윤지영
윤지영(b. 1984)은 우리 모두가 타인과 유기적으로 연결되어 있기에 가질 수밖에 없는 취약성과 불안의 감정을 다룬다. 상호연결성, 상호 의존의 구조를 드러내며 자신을 포함한 동시대 여성의 실존적 조건에 대한 반응을 조각으로 제작한다. 윤지영이 자주 사용하는 재료인 실리콘은 그 감촉과 유연한 형태로 인해 인간 신체를 연상시킨다. 이는 주체/타자의 몸에 대한 유비로 어떻게 우리가 타자와 관계맺고 연결되는지를 보여준다. 당겨지거나 찢겨져있고, 서로 결합되어 있는 그의 조각들은 사회 구조 속의 개인과 세상이 어떻게 공존하고 있는지를 분석하고, 이 안에서 각자의 역할에 대해 질문하며 그 해결방법을 모색한다.
윤지영은 홍익대학교 미술대학 조소과 학사, 시카고예술대학 조각과 석사를 졸업했다. 원앤제이 갤러리, 서울(2021); 인천아트플랫폼, 인천(2020); 마나컨템포러리, 시카고(2014)에서 개인전을 가졌다. «나비꿈», 에이라운지, 서울(2024); «젊은모색 2021», 국립현대미술관, 과천(2021); «우리와 당신들», 경기도미술관, 안산(2020); «밤이 낮으로 변할 때», 아트선재센터, 서울(2019); «생태감각», 백남준아트센터, 용인(2019); «장르알레고리-조각적», 토탈미술관, 서울(2018); «가공할 헛소리», 광주비엔날레 특별전시, 네이버 파트너 스퀘어, 광주(2018); «도면함», 시청각, 서울(2017); «After Dinner Before Dancing», Chicago Filmmakers, 시카고, 일리노이(2016) 등 국내외 주요 기관의 기획전에 참여했다. 2023년에는 DAAD Artists in Berlin 프로그램에 참여했으며, 2019년에는 서울시립미술관 난지미술창작스튜디오, 2017-2018년에는 서울문화재단 금천예술공장 등 레지던시에 입주한 바 있다. 2024년에는 국립현대미술관에서 주관하는 ‘올해의 작가상 2024’의 수상자 중 한 명으로 선정되었다.
Jiyoung Yoon (b. 1984) explores the feelings of vulnerability and unease that stem from our intrinsic connections with others. Her sculptures highlight the structures of interrelation and interdependence, responding to the existential conditions of contemporary women, including herself. The silicone Yoon frequently uses as a material evokes the human body through its texture and flexible form, serving as an analogy for the self and the other, illustrating how we relate to and engage with those around us. Her sculptures—stretched, torn, and interwoven—examine how individuals coexist within societal structures, questioning each person’s role in these systems and seeking potential solutions.
Yoon earned her B.A. in sculpture from Hongik University and her M.A. in Sculpture from School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her solo exhibitions include One and J, Seoul(2021); Incheon Art Platform, Incheon (2020); Mana Contemporary, Chicago (2014); and she has also participated in numerous group exhibitions such as Butterfly Dreams, A-Lounge, Seoul (2024); Young Korean Artists 2021, National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Gwacheon (2021); Night Turns to Day, Art Sonje Center, Seoul (2019); Ecological Sense, Nam June Paik Art Center, Yongin (2019); Genre Allegory -The Sculptural, Total Museum of Contemporary Art, Seoul (2018); Monstrous Moonshine, Collateral Exhibition-Gwangju Biennale, NAVER Partner Square, Gwangju (2018); Floor Plan Cabinet, Audio Visual Pavilion, Seoul (2017); After Dinner Before Dancing ,Chicago Filmmakers, Chicago (2016). In 2023, she participated in the DAAD Artists in Berlin Program, and in 2019, perticipated in Nanji Residency of the Seoul Museum of Art, from 2017 to 2018, moved in Seoul Art Space Geumcheon residency of Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture.
She was one of four artists selected for the Korea Artist Prize 2024, a awards from MMCA.
