Park Dasom (b. 1989) explores the transformation of painting supports and materials such as paper and canvas, delving into the physical and emotional shifts that occur in the process. Her work focuses on loss and transformation, incorporating the unpredictability that arises from changes in physical environments. The instability of materials in response to environmental shifts—and her tender acceptance of that instability—leads to a continued inquiry into the limitations and possibilities of painting as a medium. Since 2018, Park has focused on depicting the body. In 2019, she began experimenting with destructive transformations, portraying the dismantling and gradual reassembling of fragmented bodies. Embracing the inherent vulnerability of painting, she continues to explore processes of transformation and reconstruction.

Park earned her B.F.A. in Painting from Ewha Womans University and her M.F.A. there as well. Her solo exhibitions include Romantic Maxima, Place MAK2, Seoul (2024); Drive, Gallery2, Seoul (2023); The Art of Matter, Kumho Museum of Art, Seoul (2022). Park’s work has also been featured in numerous group exhibitions, including And Afterwards, Kumho Museum of Art, Seoul (2024); THREE HOLES, EVERYART Gallery, Seoul (2023); Random Pages, Gallery SP, Seoul (2022); A Bizarre Scene, Seongbuk Young Art Space, Seoul (2018).
