유근택
유근택 (b. 1965)은 전통 동양화의 본질을 유지하면서도 현대적 감각과 실험적 태도를 바탕으로 그 경계를 확장해왔다. 그는 이상적이고 관념적인 세계에 머물러 있던 동양화의 전통에서 벗어나, 일상 속에서 마주하는 친숙한 풍경과 경험을 주요 소재로 탐구한다. 집과 작업실 주변의 공간, 아파트 복도, 분수와 같은 평범한 장면들은 그의 시선을 통해 새로운 회화적 언어로 재해석된다.
1988년 홍익대학교 미술대학 동양화과를 졸업한 후, 1997년 동대학원에서 석사 학위를 취득했다. 현재 서울에서 거주하며 작업하고 있으며, 성곡미술관, 서울(2017); 코리아 소사이어티 갤러리, 뉴욕, 미국(2016); 봉산문화회관, 대구(2015); OCI 미술관, 서울(2014); 갤러리현대, 서울(2012); 사비나미술관, 서울(2004) 등에서 개인전을 가졌다. 참여한 단체전으로는 «정원», 국립현대미술관 서울관, 서울(2014); «East Bridge», 798아트팩토리, 베이징(2014); «한국미술 대 항해의 시대를 열다», 부산시립미술관, 부산(2013); «한국의 그림-매너에 관하여», 하이트컬렉션, 서울(2012); «21&THEIR TIME», 금호미술관, 서울(2010); «아시아 현대미술 프로젝트, City-Net Asia», 서울시립미술관, 서울(2007); «한-중 현대수묵전», 서울시립미술관, 서울(2005) 등이 있다. 작품은 국립현대미술관, 경기도미술관, 부산시립미술관, 성곡미술관, 금호미술관, 대전시립미술관, 리움 삼성미술관 등 다수의 미술관에 영구소장되었다.
Yoo Geun-Taek
Yoo Geun-Taek (b. 1965) has expanded the boundaries of traditional Korean painting while preserving its essence, through a contemporary sensibility and an experimental approach. Moving beyond the idealized and conceptual traditions of Korean painting, he explores familiar scenes and experiences from everyday life as his main subject. Spaces surrounding his home and studio, apartment corridors, and fountains are reinterpreted through his perspective, transforming ordinary moments into a new painterly language.
Yoo received his B.F.A. in Oriental Painting from Hongik University in 1988 and his M.F.A. from Hongik University Graduate School in 1997. He currently lives and works in Seoul, Korea. His major solo exhibitions have been held at Sungkok Art Museum, Seoul (2017); The Korea Society Gallery, New York, USA (2016); Bongsan Cultural Center, Daegu (2015); OCI Museum, Seoul (2014); Gallery Hyundai, Seoul (2012); and Savina Museum, Seoul (2004).
