김도연


김도연(b.1992)은 개인의 경험이 공유되는 방식을 작업의 주제로 삼는다. 경험이 전달되는 방식과 형태에 따라 다양하게 해석 및 확장되는 이야기의 생명력에 주목하여, 개인의 서사뿐만 아니라 넓게는 크고 작은 모든 생명과의 대화를 통해 비가시적 요소까지 포괄한 상생의 가치를 환기하고자 한다. 전시를 보고 간 관객에게 편지를 받아 이에 대한 답장으로 드로잉 연작을 만들기도 하고, 신체에 대한 유사한 경험을 공유한 작가와 소통하며 2인전을 기획하기도 했다. 김도연은 세필로 그린 유화나 판화를 주요 매체로 하는데, 세밀하고 집요한 그리기 방식을 거쳐 그 과정에 작가의 이야기와 몸짓을 더해 소통의 방식을 확장해나간다.

 

김도연 작가는 건국대학교에서 현대미술을, 서울과학기술대학교에서 조형예술을 전공했다. Kim Doyeon


Kim Doyeon (b.1992) centers her work on how personal experiences are shared, aiming to evoke a sense of coexistence that includes even invisible elements of life through both individual narratives and broader dialogues with all living beings. She has created a series of drawings in response to letters received from exhibition viewers and has organized two-person exhibitions through exchanges with artists who share similar bodily experiences. Kim primarily works with finely detailed oil paintings and prints, employing a meticulous, persistent drawing technique that incorporates her own stories and gestures, expanding the possibilities for communication.

 

Kim earned her B.F.A. in Contemporary Art from Konkuk University, Seoul, KR, and her M.F.A. in Fine Arts from Seoul National University of Science and Technology. Her solo exhibitions include In the Forest of Himmapan, SAC Gallery, Bangkok (2026); From, Kim Doyeon, EveryArt, Seoul (2022); CRR, Space Illy, Seoul (2021); Don’t Engage with Snowflake, AlterSide, Seoul (2021); and A Dog, A Bird, A Pot, Uhjjuhdah Gallery 2, Seoul (2019). She has also participated in group exhibitions, such as Mountain–Halyang, Chamber 1965, Seoul (2023); A Story That Never Happened, Gallery Inn HQ, Seoul (2023); OOOOO, ooooon, Seoul (2022); Performativity as Painting, TINC, Seoul (2021); Now Let’s Break the Bed, Art Space Pool, Seoul (2019); and New Drawing Project, Yangju City Chang Ucchin Museum of Art, Yangju (2018).
