송지현
송지현 (b. 1993)은 구조의 생성과 붕괴, 그리고 파편이 재조합될 때 발생하는 새로운 시선과 질서에 주목한다. 그의 작품은 배관 파이프나 강철 구조물처럼 건축 현장에서 발견한 잔해를 연상시키는 형상을 띤다. 전통적인 물레가 아닌 산업용 진공압출기를 활용해 제작된 도자 작품은 연약함과 견고함이 공존하며 시공간 속에서 해체와 생성이 교차(작가노트 발췌)하는 긴장감을 드러낸다. 해체된 구조물이나 깨진 도자 조각은 본래의 체계에서 이탈한 요소들로 송지현의 주요 조형 언어로 활용된다. 이는 기능을 상실한 대상이 새로운 맥락 속에 배치되고, 이전과는 다른 관계와 의미를 획득하는 과정에 대한 탐구로 이어진다.
송지현은 단국대학교에서 도예를, 영국왕립예술대학(Royal College of Art)에서 도자유리공예(Ceramics and Glass)를 전공했으며, 토마스 파크, 서울 (2025); 예술의 시간, 서울 (2024); 팩토리2, 서울 (2023)에서 개인전을 갖은 바 있다. 《낙오되지 않을 항해에 관한 기록, Next Code》, 대전시립미술관, 대전 (2024); 《Summer Exhibition》, Royal Academy of Arts, 런던 (2024); 《The Blossom of Culture》, Redwing Gallery, 콘월, (2022); 《Rising Star》, New Ashgate Gallery, 판햄 (2022); 《Cabinet of Curiosity》, Design Museum, 런던 (2021) 등의 단체전에 참여했다.
Song Jihyun (b. 1993) focuses on the formation and collapse of structures, focusing on the emergence of new perspectives and orders when fragments are recombined. Her work often evokes images of construction debris, such as plumbing pipes or steel frameworks. Produced using an industrial vacuum extruder rather than a traditional potter’s wheel, her ceramic pieces embody a tension where fragility and sturdiness coexist, and where deconstruction and creation intersect across time and space. Deconstructed structures and broken ceramic shards—elements detached from their original systems—serve as Song’s primary formative language. This leads to an exploration of how objects that have lost their original function are placed within new contexts, acquiring relationships and meanings entirely different from before.
Song Jihyun studied Ceramics at Dankook University and earned her MA in Ceramics and Glass from the Royal College of Art. She has held solo exhibitions at Thomas Park, Seoul (2025); Art Moment, Seoul (2024); and Factory2, Seoul (2023). Her work has been featured in numerous group exhibitions, including Next Code: Records of a Voyage That Will Not Fall Behind at the Daejeon Museum of Art (2024); Summer Exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts, London (2024); The Blossom of Culture at Redwing Gallery, Cornwall (2022); Rising Star at New Ashgate Gallery, Farnham (2022); and Cabinet of Curiosities at the Design Museum, London (2021).
