다안 쿠자인 (Daan Couzijn, b. 1994)은 조각, 회화, 비디오, 설치 등 다양한 매체를 넘나들며 개념적인 작업을 수행한다. 진품성과 차용, 물리적 신체와 디지털 신체, 소유와 상실 사이의 경계를 탐구한다. 그는 진품성과 독창성을 창작자 개인의 내면에서 기원하는 속성으로 간주하기보다, 오랜 시간에 걸쳐 형성된 사회적/문화적 관계망 속에서 발생하는 것으로 바라본다. 시각 문화와 그로부터 파생되는 시각적 관습 아래 이미지가 어떻게 생산, 재생산되며 해석되는지에 대한 탐구를 기반으로, 사회가 무엇을 가치 있게 여기고, 언제 어떤 것이 의미를 잃는지 결정하는 메커니즘을 연구하고 이를 작업으로 풀어낸다.

다안 쿠자인은 암스테르담과 파리를 기반으로 활동하며, 로테르담 음악원에서 성악을, 마스트리히트 예술대학에서 퍼포먼스 아트를 전공하였고, 이후 암스테르담의 게릿 리트벨트 아카데미에서 순수미술 및 디자인 석사 학위를 취득하였다. 그는 아트 브뤼셀에서 플러스원 프로젝트 갤러리와 함께한 솔로 프레젠테이션(브뤼셀, 2025)을 비롯해, «From Raster to Vector», Center for Contemporary Art & Ecology, 델프트 (2024); «Look At Me #3». Via Plezzo 16, 밀라노 (2024); «The Overstory», Modern Animals Gallery, 취리히 (2023); «Prospects by the Mondriaan Fund», 아트 로테르담, 로테르담 (2023); «Synthetic Selves», 레이캬비크 국제 영화제, 레이캬비크, 난징 예술대학 미술관, 난징 (2018) 등의 그룹전에 참여했으며, 2021년에는 몬드리안 펀드로부터 아티스트 스타트 지원금을 받았다. 그의 작품은 2021년 네덜란드 벤로의 뮤지엄 판 봄멜 판 담과 2025년 네덜란드 암스테르담의 스히폴 암스테르담 공항에 영구 소장되었다.

또한 시각예술가로서 활동할 뿐만 아니라, 퍼포머로서 파리 루브르 박물관, 베를린 하우스 데어 쿨투렌 데어벨트, 암스테르담 스테델린 미술관 등 여러 기관에서도 공연한 바 있다.

Daan Couzijn (b. 1994) is a multidisciplinary artist who conceptually employs sculpture, painting, video, and installation. His practice explores the boundaries between authenticity and appropriation, the physical and digital body, and ownership and loss. Rather than viewing authenticity and originality as inherent qualities originating from the individual creator, he considers them to emerge within long-established social and cultural networks. Based on an investigation of how images are produced, reproduced, and interpreted under visual culture and its conventions, Couzijn examines the mechanisms by which society determines what is valuable and when something loses its significance, translating these inquiries into his work.

Based in Amsterdam and Paris, Couzijn studied singing at the Conservatory of Music in Rotterdam and performance art at the Institute of Performative Arts in Maastricht, and he obtained his MA degree in Fine Art & Design at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. He has participated in group and solo exhibitions including a solo presentation with PLUS-ONE Projects at Art Brussels (Brussels, 2025); From Raster to Vector at RADIUS — Center for Contemporary Art & Ecology, Delft (2024); Look At Me #3 at Via Plezzo 16, Milan (2024); The Overstory at Modern Animals Gallery, Zurich (2023); Prospects by the Mondriaan Fund at Art Rotterdam, Rotterdam (2023); and Synthetic Selves at the Reykjavík International Film Festival, Reykjavík (2018), as well as at the Art Museum of Nanjing University of the Arts (2018). His work was acquired for the permanent collections of the Museum van Bommel van Dam (Venlo, NL) in 2021 and Schiphol Amsterdam Airport (Amsterdam, NL) in 2025.

Additionally, Couzijn has performed at institutions such as the Louvre Museum in Paris, the Haus der Kulturen der Welt in Berlin, and the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam.
